We don't particularly like Bangkok, the modern capital of Thailand, but we do seem to end up going there quite a lot because in and around Bangkok are some of the best tourist attractions in Thailand, as well as fabulous shopping, great places to eat and fantastic night life. If you don't visit Bangkok you may never get to experience the Grand Palace, home to Thai royalty for centuries, or the Chatuchak Weekend Markets where you can shop all day and still see only a fraction of what's on offer, or experience a cruise up the amazing Chao Phraya River past the Jade Buddha temple. Ranging out on day trips from Bangkok you'll discover amazing attractions like the ancient city of Ayutthaya, the floating markets at Damoen Saduak, the Tiger Temple and the Bridge over the River Kwai at Kanchanaburi. Here we've tried to group the things we most like about Bangkok in one place. We hope you enjoy our choices. If you think we've missed something, please drop us a line or tweet us @asiantraveltips.
